Remember to book early for the training sessions!
Calling all six to sixteen year olds! Are you looking forward to the School holidays? How about giving yourself something extra special to look forward at the end of July and book in to the Royal Forest of Dean angling course at its prolific Plump Hill fishery. If you’ve never fished before, it’s your opportunity to have a go. Or perhaps you have some angling experience but would like to improve your skills? Whatever your experience, or lack of it, you are very welcome. The course is split into eight sessions of three hours over four days; July 29th, 30th and 31st and 1st August. The morning session starts at 9 am, with the afternoon starting at 1 pm and each trainee will be given personalised advice and help according to their ability from the three qualified coaches who will be on hand.
The event is sponsored by the Royal Forest of Dean Angling Club with kind support from Ross-on-Wye tackle shop, Wye Angling as well as fishing tackle giant Shimano UK. There is no need to worry about fishing tackle or bait, as this is all provided for you thanks to our sponsors. However, whilst bottled water and on-site toilets will be available, please remember to bring suitable waterproof clothing and footwear, as well as any refreshments, sun protection (hopefully required!) you need.
Club Officer and ”Angling 4 a Catch” coach Nick Oakley is keen to emphasise that all-comers are welcome to either have a go at the sport, or learn some new tricks that he, John Beddis and Rob England will be more than willing to impart. They cannot promise that you will catch, but Plump Hill is full of fish so the chances are high. However, the team of coaches will dedicate themselves to ensuring you have an enjoyable and fun day.
Please book in early to avoid disappointment as places are limited to eighty youngsters on a first come first served basis. You can do this by contacting Nick Oakley on 01594 560373 or 07739 556983, who will give you more information about the day and answer any questions you may have.
